Grew up in that congregation, it was there that a special pioneer/elder aged about 55 turned my face to kiss me full on the mouth as I was getting out of his car after getting a lift home from service. I was 14 and so terrified to tell anyone and felt I had done something wrong.

Derby people?

Knew a west indian special pioneer couple who were originally from Derby, they pioneered in S.E. London for some years and had a child called Jeremy, same age as my son, he would be 33 now.

Give Blood!

well, ever considered giving blood?

if you're eligible to do so i would encourage everyone here to go for it, the world needs more blood donors, it's always nice to help out and given our history i find there's something very enjoyable about it.

Years ago when I was still in the Jw's I signed an organ donor card, even my easy going husband raised his eyebrows. I told him it was my business and if I was prepared to accept a donor organ to save my life the least I could do was to reciprocate with mine if I die. Last weekend I signed up for a blood donor program and should hear from them soon as to when I can donate. Feels good.

JWs and Education

my parents were always of the belief that, "the end is right around the corner".. i was a zealous kid, with a learning disorder, so my parents never gave me a hard time or pushed me in regards to my education.. this not only hurt me, but, pissed me off insanely.

fast forward to me having my own kid.

ava is not doing well in school.

How wonderful that you are so concerned for your little girl. Your love and care for her shines through and you do not want her to be at a disadvantage with a learning problem. I would suggest though that you have a proper evaluation of where the problem lies. Get an expert opinion, do not just go on your own observation.

My daughter had learning problems and I wish we had sought help sooner. The main areas of concern were in coordination, left, right etc. All related back to difficult birth with poor functioning placenta. She could not manage more than one instruction at a time and having a mess around her could send her into a meltdown as she could not see an end to the mess. Even today at 29 she processes things in a different way than most people but she is successful and a parent herself now.

Try not to make her feel she has to please you to do well, that is a fast track to low self confidence in the long run.

been reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.

i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.

i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

Welcome to the club...hope you find your way out of the organization for good, it seems to be so many that are just going through the motions and showing up for the social element connected to the religion.

Anyone who left more than five years ago would not recognize this religion anymore it has changed beyond anything anyone could have imagined. Wish you all the best.

Japan closed 638 Congregations lost 6,000 Publishers in 10 years!!! WHY?

japan had a massive increase in publishers from 1950-1998. then in 1998 something happened and jehovah's blessing switched off!!!.

1998 -222,912 publishers 3,802 congregations.

2006 -217,519 publishers 3,164 congregations.

I had two japanese pioneers stay with us for a convention and holiday. They told me that the reason for always good statistics from Japan was because the elders always put down at least one hour for the publishers even if they did not report as it just was not good form to let the congregation down. They did not bat an eyelid when they told me this. Seemed just fine with them.
